Don't get mad at me -it is what the papers are saying....(at least the Bush adm. has high hopes...Condy etc. etc.)

No Westerner is ever going to instill peace in an area of the world that has been at war, in one form or another, for more than 2000 years. Most Americans have no concept of the culture, religion, politics, or any other aspect of the Middle East. Bush and the other American politicos need to jump down off of their high horses and face reality.

Reply:Not likely. Every president since the 60s has been trying to accomplish that goal with little progress. I doubt there is enough time to get a real solution.
Reply:1. NO ONE ever tries to address the underlying issues of the trouble in the Middle East. Those wars have been going on a LONG time, and aren't likely to stop.





2. The Bush Administration DOES NOT WANT PEACE. As long as war continues, the supporters of the administration continue to sell weapons, oil, etc, at whatever price they want. Besides, a large proportion of Conservatives are bigots, and the Bush Administration gets to use their wars to kill brown non-Christians AND underprivileged Americans. Why stop by this coming January?
