"The courageous people of Brattleboro, Vermont have taken the lead! Frustrated that elected officials have refused to introduce articles of impeachment in defiance of their constituents' demands, the people of Brattelboro voted to direct town officials to draw up indictment papers against George Bush and Dick Cheney for violating their oath of office.
The Brattleboro vote took place during the Tuesday's Vermont primary election. Bush supporters launched a major campaign to discredit the referendum resolution and the organizers. Yet the resolution passed by a vote of 2012 in favor to 1795 against.
"Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictments for consideration by other authorities and shall it be the law of the Town of Brattleboro that the Brattleboro Police..."
Can you come up with a suggestion on how we can get Bush and Cheney to visit Brattleboro?
Tell em a convention of pharmaceutical,oil,bankers,%26amp; arm manufacturing corperations getting to gether for another re distribution of wealth conferance.
Reply:What about a Citizen's Arrest? I'll just walk up and place those two bozos (Papa Bush's word) under arrest, then I'll drag them to Vermont for trial with a jury of fine citizens. Of course, I'll read them their rights, which might remind them that people DO have rights.
They'll be convicted, of course, and incarcerated at Guantanamo, USA, which we will build on a Vermont mountain top. We won't waterboard them, of course, because that might lower us to their level. But we will lower a tremendous fine....all of their vast profits for the past eight years....and donate it to the Salvation Army, leaving just enough for Laura to pay her rent in the trailer park.
Reply:What a great example of people power!
Many years ago I'd have said tell Bush and Cheney Brattleboro citizens are exempt from the draft, the whole Neocon cabal would have turned up in no time at all.
Reply:Damn Greg, you took my answer...lol
Tell Bush 'Big Bird' is there...I heard he loves Sesame Street
Reply:If your town did I'm betting the entire population would be charged with terroristic threats and treason and would be either imprisoned or simply disappear. This man is mad, he believes using sadistic and psychotic forms of torture are good things against people who may or may not have any knowledge of "terrorist" activities. If your town desires to do this, wait until he is no longer in office and his power is diminished. However, if another Republican is selected, you can bet GW will be pulling some strings.
Reply:Tell them they struck oil!!
Reply:what crimes have Bush and Cheney committed?
Reply:Whole lot of nothing!
Reply:They have absolutely no power to arrest the President or the Vice President. Symbolic gestures like that are meaningless. Additionally, it was a resolution, not an indictment. The Town Attorney has no authority to draw up the indictment since it is not a matter of local jurisdiction.
