Reply:How can anyone make fun of his lack of intelligence? Bush is a really shrewd person.
Reply:He is repeating what most every prior President since Lincoln has claimed and is within accepted practice.
Reply:i'm sorry, but all of you calling him 'our leader' sound more like fascists. A true conservative like reagan or goldwater is rolling in his grave over the president making such statements. We are America and that is not a place, but an idea, based on o0ur constitution. The constitution clearly defines the parameters of the 3 branches of government and those of you believe that the president-- any president, i don't care if we're taling george w or bill clnton-- can ignore duly legislated law is absolutely wrong and should go to a place like zimbabwe... you'll feel right at home with mugabe. Leaders that set themselves above the law in history would include people like general franco, general peron, adolph hitler, mussolini, salazar, etc. National security does not take precedence over the consitution and passed legislation, but respecting those institutions is all about preserving our security and longevity as a nation. A true patriot doesn't violate or disregard the documents and insitutions that make america great, they hold them up and ensure they are respected and duly observed, just like the oath every public official and every rank of military takes... 'to serve and protect the consitition and defend against enemies, both foreign and domestic.'
Reply:He is the president. The buck stops with him. Some of us believe that our leader is better then to use this for his own gains and I am one of them. Sorry.
Reply:I find signing statements in general to be unconstitutional amendments that Congress didn't approve and they're the only lawmakers. Those 2 sound like he's giving himself a bit more rope to hang American privacy rights with.
Reply:He's a cheat who wanted to stay focused on your profits, Oil Guy.
