I had to do a research paper for my college professor, and lets just say I found interesting facts. We've spent about 47 billion on the reconstruction of Iraq. We're spending 123.6 billion dollars a year on the war in Iraq (note Afghanistan is not included). The government borrows this money, as you or I would borrow when we use a credit card, which causes the value of the American dollar to decrease. Oil prices have went from 1.73 (average before the Iraq war) to 3.80 (average current, during the Iraq war). As oil prices have increased, everything else has also. Forcing a good portion of Americans into debt over the previous 5 years. I'm not saying I'm against or for Bush, but these are the facts. He was the one very energized to enter Iraq. So can we blame Bush for the countries current problems yet, or do people still support Bush in our failing economy?

Can we officially blame Bush for our countries problems?
Yes. And based on the low approval ratings - the lowest of any president since polling began - I think most Americans do.
Unfortunately, we and our elected officials have been dropping our drawers, bending over, and letting Bush and Company do whatever they've wanted to do for 8 years. Based on that history, no one in the US should ever wonder how Hitler came to power and was able to wreak all the havoc he did upon the world.
Reply:You can blame anyone for our problems but wouldn't you rather be part of the solution? Just keep on backing our president and we'll be alright in the future. If the dollar keeps going down, won't it be funny when all that money we are sending to China becomes worthless and the Chinese folks don't have anything of value?
Reply:President Bushs' approval rating is around 30%. (Like he or I care about stupid polls.) But, Congress' approval rating is around 20%!
go figger.
Reply:Bush can share the blame with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.
Reply:No --------- lets blame the tooth fairy!
Reply:........dont forget to share the blame.
Reply:of course we can, who else but him.
Reply:Hi ryman,
.....A president cannot declare war...pull troops..appropriate or borrow funds without the approval and support of congress....the president power is limited and congress can pretty much override anything a president does with two-thirds vote..so even his veto power is limited..Bush is just one of many players involved......
If you want to place blame than I suggest you look a little deeper... past the figure head and straight to the heart of the problem........the members of congress is depending on the people to look only at the surface and to the face that our electoral college decides to place out front....a president is recognizable to the public but most people cannot recognize but a handful, if that , of their congressmen and women..the very people who run this country.....so when something goes wrong...the most recognized is where the blame is placed...while the rest goes along unnoticed and unscathed.......
For the record I am not a Bush supporter..never have been never will be......and I don't support how our government is being run......at one time our country could stand on its own but after many administrations we have been crippled and made dependent on others.. the Bush administration has just added more to something that already existed....
so, my answer is no..not all can be blamed on Bush he is no more guilty than all the rest of the vultures sitting on the hill....they are all guilty ..and we the people are guilty for voting these pieces of crap into office than keep voting them back in over and over again......
By the way, the devaluation of the dollar started under Clinton administration..when they broke out the printing presses...and it has went down ever since....
Reply:Since the Dems have only owned congress for the past year, it would be Bush or the Republican party that have put us where we stand right now. The guy that said blame Pelosi is just playing politics (How can you blame her with just over 1 year on the job??)
In Bush's term, the Republicans controlled the senate 6 years and the house 4 years. Only one year did the Dems control the House and 3 years for the Senate. The house was tied twice.
Clearly from those stats, this situation was created and is owned by the republicans.
We started the Bush administration with a budget surplus and now we have the largest deficit ever.
With no investment in alternative energy and his big oil connections, he has a big hand in our current gas situation as well.
The man is close to the worst leader that this world has ever seen (third behind Hitler and Stalin)
Reply:I think one look at Bush's approval ratings will show you that only a small percentage of people ( in my opinion the ones that choose to completely ignore the obvious facts) are still supporting him.
It's taken Americans way longer than most other nations, but even they have finally realized what an idiot they have elected.
I'm sure there are plenty of people in his cabinet that carry as much or even more of the blame for our situation, but it all started with his election - that's what put them into their positions of power in the first place.
So in a pretty broad sense, I'd definitely say we can put a good portion of the blame on him.
Reply:The short answer is, "Yes!" Actually, if you go back just a little bit further, in early 2000, gas prices averaged under $1 per gallon. Clinton left a budget surplus which Bush squandered in no time. We now have a huge deficit, record foreclosures, gas prices spiraling out of control, education and health care systems that are failing our citizens in ever increasing numbers, and our young men and women dying in a war that Bush and Cheney, as we now know, lied to get us into. And probably, one of the most enduring failures has to be that Bush has managed to trash the reputation of our once great country around the world. We no longer have the respect of other nations that we used to.
