Do you agree with this stance on george w. bush?

So I had to write a paper on what I think of the effectiveness of GWB.

Tell me what you think.

Honestly, I believe George W. Bush has not been an effective president throughout his full eight year reign, however, I respect him and believe he did the best he could After September 11th, I believe President Bush made the right decision to invade Afghanistan. Our country needed to show that it was not going to back down and let Terrorists threaten our country again. People should remember that America is the "light on top of the hill". Most things work around America's involvement in foreign affairs. WWII is an example. Until Japan bombed the USA, the war was dragging on and on and looked as though there would be no end. Then America stepped in, reluctantly, and the war finally ended. I believe that America still holds that position in the world. We defend ourselves, and if needed, protect our allies. Bush is just living out Americas traditions. However, he has definitley made

Do you agree with this stance on george w. bush?
No

Reply:love your question
Reply:i agree with you if he would of stayed out of iraq and done more there in afganistan we would be in good shape but hes an oil man and oil is his game . what our country needs right now is an honest responsable leader
Reply:No...I don't agree.

I...like many..believe he intentionally...and without any compunction...lied and disillusioned both the American public and the world with claims of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...just so he could go in, get Hussein, and finish the job that dear old dad f**ked up on back in the 90's.

Many lives...American and others...military and civilian...have been sacrificed...all to clear Daddy Bush's name.
Reply:No - George W. Bush is responsible for creating a big mess in Iraq.

You do not even mention Iraq!!
Reply:In part. The present economic ills arose partly from too much money being created by the Federal Reserve System in 2004-2005; this is not on Bush's head. Another very important factor was the creation of new forms of securities, which turned out not to be as secure as first supposed. (This isn't on Bush's head either.)
Reply:First to the above-- who says is daddy's name was not clear....I hear this crap all the time but remind me to whom was his dads rep bad -in whose eyes??And further more saddam claimed he did-- tell me you have a gun and want to kill me and i puill mine out and shoot you whose fault is that not mine but yorus..

but as to your thoughts--

this would be a valid opinion ou have ..... though I disagree with it some- he was very effective until he lets us get bogged down by not sending in enough troops to execute his plan in Iraq

on the economy -the president has little if anything to do with impacting the economy-- he does not pass the laws or policy nor does he choose how the money the gov't has collected or spent--- he does not allocate the money etc

the congress actually chooses how the money is spent and how the economy is impacted-- the president submits a budget and congress screws it up.. so maybe ...he is ineffective in that he did not convince congress to follow his suggestion/budget - but no more so thatn most presidents
Reply:I agree with most of your points and find this to be fairly accurate and fair. He's had a hard time as president, what with all the war and natural disasters, etc. and I think he truly has done the best he can. No one liked Abraham Lincoln at the time of his presidency and now we look upon him as one of the greatest presidents we've ever had. George W. Bush made the tough choice to go to war. In the long run, he was right. If it takes people a few years to realize it, so be it.

Reply:I think he picked the route he thought would work the best and stuck with it. You can't have leaders constantly bending to the will of the public, otherwise you'll never get anything done. The point of having elected officials is spelled out in our constitution which basically says, we need to pick people that we think are smart enough to make the right decisions that will benefit everyone.

There is a point though, when things are going wrong...that you have to change your strategy. I think Bush made the right decisions yet when it became apparent that a new strategy was needed, he didn't act.
Reply:That's to much to read. So I'll say no I don't.
Reply:You kill your argument with "made the right decision to invade Afghanistan. Afghanistan actually offered to hand the US Osama bin Laden on production of evidence that he had been involved in 9/11. Bush swore he had the evidence but we are still waiting. Meanwhile, he invaded any way and then invaded Iraq on a bunch of straight out lies.

If you respect him, I don't respect you.
Reply:There are so many factual errors in this that it's tiresome:

Afghanistan did not "threaten" the USA, they in fact made two perfectly reasonable offers to turn OBL over for trial. That wasn't good enough for Bush, so we invaded.

Very few people in the world think of America as the "light on the hill." We have in fact invaded, bombed, paid for coups in, and otherwise committed acts of war against sovereign nations about 100 times since the end of WW2, hardly something to inspire the world. And invading other nations is NOT "defending ourselves" anymore than Hitler's invasion of Poland was "defending itself."

The USA did everything in it's power to get Japan and Germany to declare war on the USA, we were hardly neutral victims. And Japan and Germany would have lost the war whether or not the USA got involved, blatant conquest and colonialism ceased working around 1900 with the invention of smokeless gunpowder.

A lesson the USA hasn't learnt yet apparently, Iraq and Afghanistan will never be compliant American "allies."
Reply:Afgahnistahn was right move though mishandled Iraq is fiasco ur right about economy u did not mention the lying and the bumbling and nepotism that will define this admin as worst ever. What about the failure round katrina
