Does the American Press Give George W Bush a Pass and Don't Critique his Economic Policies?

The fact that the news papers columnists like George Will are for the mst part Bush followers will this be a big factor?

Does the American Press Give George W Bush a Pass and Don't Critique his Economic Policies?
I have to agree with you -- if the press publishes you, you are able to accomplish more -- whether it is good or bad.

Bush has plunged the nation into a 3 trillion dollar deficit through his war, promises, and other things. A lot of bad business went on during the on-going war that shames Americans. We are supposed to be a God fearing, faithful nation, yet the soldiers who interviewed prisoners at Guantanamo and in third world prisons used pure torture. USA is NOT supposed to do that -- we are supposed to follow the Geneva convention rules.

How can we preach one thing and do another -- it is because the citizens, like me and many others, do not have any power when it comes right down to it. Freedom and living in the USA is one of the truest gifts I have, and I thank my parents for living here when I was born.

This is supposed to be a democratic nation because we have elections -- but whomever is elected is then not held to the standards we espouse for the world. It is not our business to go into other countries, who have lived in certain circumstances for years, and change their rules of government.

We can educate the leaders on the benefits of free enterprise, and help them get the poor on their feet with knowledge about growing food, etc. We can help educate the populace. But, we also should do this for our own country first. We should have no homeless, no starving, no uneducated people, but we do. The money is spent on other countries.

And to top that off, we have out sourced jobs -- where does that leave Americans -- hopeless.
Reply:uh which papers do you read? I have never seen the press say anything nice about the president, its why we call it the Liberal Press....all I ever see them do is trash talk the republicans and kiss up to the dems..I only know of one newspaper that doesn't do that, they look at history, world economics and the political climate of the entire world...alas....I can't afford that paper anymore....but "Investors Business Daily" is the only paper I would ever recommend.

You want to bring up Bush's lies? How about Hussein's lies? He bears the ultimate responsibility for leading the world to believe he had wmd when he MAY not have....the jury is still out on that one, and unless we dig up the entire country the jury will remain out.
Reply:Why do you Americans trust and have faith in a person who cannot be trusted with a bottle of beer?
Reply:LOL When did the American Press EVER give a Republican a pass???? Columnists aren't nearly as influential as editors.
Reply:Yes I think it does. I haven't really heard much about how we have gone from a budget surplus to a record deficit. And this is from the party that says that they are for smaller government and fiscal responsibility.
Reply:What are you talking about? The media has been anti-Bush since before he was elected! Where do you think all of the anti-Bush people get their information? That's like asking "why is the sky always red?" , or "why are fires cold?".

There are such things as stupid questions. This one takes the cake.

You found ONE columnist that might be pro-Bush, and think he will somehow shape the course of the "press"?

99% of the press is anti-Bush, bordering on Communist!
