Can you take a florist cut rose and turn it into a rose bush by making it somehow turn into a seed?

I was told that if you put a cut rose into a paper bag and put in into the dark for a while {months} it would eventually turn into a seed.

I received a bouquet of purple roses for Mothers Day and wanted to turn it into a bush if I could.

You can't do it that way, but you could try something else. Cut the bottom of the stem off at an angle. Cut off the top, leaving 8-9 inches of stem. Remove the bottom leaves. Dip in rooting hormone and plant in a small pot with a very lightweight potting soil. Press down to remove all air pockets. Water thoroughly. Place 4 stakes in the corners of the pot. Place a plastic bag over the pot. Raise one corner to make sure the cutting gets air. Place in a light, warm spot. No direct sunlight. Keep moist. It takes about a month to see if it takes or not. Seeing that they have been cut for awhile, it probably won't. You could use a larger pot and try to root a few. Good luck!
Reply:most floral roses are hybrids and are grafted on hardy rose root stock. the cut stems are often not good candidates for rooted growing.. sorry. Seeding a rose seed will likely give you something entirely different than the roses you received.

Let your roses dry and enjoy them that way... for a long time.
Reply:The way to germinate a rose bloom is to let just the bloom it dry completely. It then becomes a "rosehip". Rose seeds are produced inside the "hips," the fruit of the rose. Some varieties seldom, if ever, produce hips; others are good producers.

Collect hips that have ripened -- they'll usually be yellow, orange, or red. Cut them open with a knife, and shell out the creamy white "seeds."

Good Luck and hop you had a nice Mother's Day!
Reply:you might be able to put root hormone on the stem and make it grow
Reply:making it grow is less of a problem than keeping it alive.

you don't say where you live.
Reply:no, a "cut" rose or flower wil never produce seed and can not be propagated! sorry!
