Do you think Bush will take Pres Carter's lead and give up rights to protection by secret service agents?

President Jimmy Carter gave up his rights to protection by secret service agents? Do you think that President Bush will do the same as well? Please feel free to elaborate in detail? This is for a paper I'm writing.

Not unless he hires Halliburton to do the job.
Reply:no.
Reply:Based on just the vitriol spewed on this site, GWB would be foolish to give up that protection. My guess is that he will not and I think that is a wise decision.
Reply:No. And he shouldn't want to do that.

He %26amp; his family are probably the terrorists' number one target.
Reply:I was at a dinner hosted by Jimmy Carter a few weeks ago and I can guarantee you that he has plenty of secret service. Whether he did or not on paper is one thing, but he's protected.

BTW...i didn't go to the dinner by my choice, my boss made me go.
Reply:Secret Service gave up Carter because they are allergic to peanuts.
Reply:We could just use that light thingy they used in "Men In Black" to wipe his memory. Clinton does not need that he forgets everything anyway. Even who he has not had sex with.
Reply:I have not heard that "Hillbilly Jim' has passed on his Detail, but seeing as he's already kissed Castro and Chavez's @$$es he figures they would avenge him.

but why only W, what about Bubba and George SR.

and keep in mind that Carter has been out of office since 1980(27 yrs if you cant do the math) where as W is still in office for another 2. as a sitting President(whether you like the man or not, you have to respect the office) he is a more viable target in need of safeguarding. and keep in mind that the immediate family of both the Pres and VP are covered by a Secret Service detail so Bush 41 would be covered there.

So the real question falls back to, will Bill follow Jimmy's lead and renounce his protection? because that is the only honest parallel you can or should draw.
Reply:Bush will not do that. He knows he has made too many enemies, not only around the world, but right here at home. He also knows he has been 'shady' and those people run scared.

Carter felt comfortable when he left.
Reply:I doubt it, and I don't think he should. I would hope that NO future Presidents follow Former President Carter's lead on anything or any issue. All Presidents are afforded Secret Service protection after they leave office and should be, I would guess they are all at risk.
Reply:No, none of the other ex-Presidents have given up theirs with what you say the exception of carter, so why would this President?
Reply:Bush will need security due to the psychos on the left, if they'll whack Innocent babies for more party time imagine their indifference to a patriot president.

Jimmy has private body guards.he didn't trust American service men to protect him after starving and belittling them all those years. And continues today.
Reply:who would want to kill jimmuh..he was and is as useless as a fart in a windstorm
Reply:Jimmy Carter is not a threat to anyone. Most Democrat leaders never took a stand against anything. Terrorist love Democrats
Reply:No. Bush does everything according to how much it will stroke his ego.
Reply:I saw Jimmy Cater a while back, I live near him, he has secret service agents, what are you talking about? How did you get the idea that he is not protected?
Reply:I would have to say no because of people/haters like you. I also would like to see where you found that Carter does not need or use secret service protection. he had it in Venezuela.
Reply:How would I know?
Reply:I would have to say no considering the fact that most of America would like to lynch that idiot.
Reply:golly gee whiz no, he'll need all he can get!!!
