Do you approve of The Secure Fence Act passed by President George W. Bush in 2006?

Please do not answer, "Bush is stupid." or any form of that answer. I am trying to gather opinions on immigration for my research paper/ Academic Fair project.

Do you approve of The Secure Fence Act passed by President George W. Bush in 2006?
Well no not really. I mean I don't think it will stop them.
Reply:Yes, I approve. I have nothing against them coming over here to better themselves, but if they want to take advantage of the opportunities they should earn them by becoming citizens and learning the language.

Not when they come here and will not learn the language, become citizens, earn money here and take it back to support their country. They are causing over crowding in our schools and taking away welfare benefits that belong to the American people.
Reply:Yes, I do approve!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:This was an attempt to pacify the Republican voting base who felt that Bush and the Republican congress had done nothing on the immigration crisis. It was an election year ploy only. They do not intend to ever really build the fence, unless Haliburton can stand to make millions, I do not think it will come to fruition. Bush is in favor of a North American Union, making Canada, the United States and Mexico open to any friendly traveler who has a card that grants them total freedom of movement through the Union. It has already begun,so I don't think a fence will be necessary.
Reply:Yes of course. I think most everyone does.
Reply:No its ridiculous. It is just another way to pander to his core. The fence is never going to built. Build a fence around the border, does not even sound logical. Who is going to pay for it.
Reply:Ya gotta start some where, otherwise, it will just keep escalating. Lets just hope they dont take up "pole-vaulting"!!!
Reply:No I dont I think it will strain relationships with mexico, also how is this any different then the Berlin wall?
Reply:Yes. We need to control our borders. This is a start, but only a start.
Reply:Yes, I approve. Unbridled immigration has become a social and economic strain in the US.
Reply:YES!! I do approve, i have e-mailed the President and all of my elected officials from the district i live in, encouraging them to pass and sign the legislation. I know there is talk about not funding the fence but that to has been approved, they are also discussing adding to the fence and implementing an increase in the border patrol. All of these elements are long overdue and i believe we owe a debt of gratitude to the MINUTEMEN!!
Reply:Yes I approve. I can't wait to see it implemented.
Reply:No! The fences only cover 700 miles of a 2000 mile long border! So we still have 1300 miles UNPROTECTED!

AND....there was no money in the budget for it. They will have to pass the financial end of the bill later.

Like everything else the gov't does....they only did it half way!
Reply:Yes, I do! Mainly because nobody has come up with a better idea. This sends a clear message to those who believe they can come and go as they please. You are welcome through the front door only!

Before the US can resolve the immigrant problem that already exists, it must stop the influx of more illigal immigrants. Only then, can the Washington politicians agree on a workable program that will resolve the current crises.
Reply:NO,It needs to be longer and higher!
Reply:Okay, the ACT was passed by CONGRESS and signed into LAW by the President... that minor correction to the Constitution made:

Yes, I approve of the act. What I DON'T approve of is Congress NOT funding the damned thing !! It was passed as a SOP to the American public... so that Congress LOOKED like they were doing the will of the people and protecting the sovereignty of our nation.

A fence is constitutional AND is within the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo (1848) with Mexico.
Reply:it wont make any difference. its a credible idea but the problem is still enforcement..fences can be cut and dug under. but if it makes the liberals happy...well than it must be ok...lol.
Reply:A lot of people are for it but the money for it doesn't exist anymore you might want to look that up for your paper. Maybe you will find they've since aquired new money for it. I haven't heard about that tho.
Reply:It's laughable, but that's what I expect from the Sitcom President and his posse. The fence is more symbolic than practical. In short, there's no $$$$ for it, it only covers a minor portion of what's needed, and it's being developed by the SAME people responsible for designing and installing the New Orleans levees!

So while the President and GOP stuffed shirts will pontificate proudly for the cameras, most illegals will still be walking into this country...probably climbing over the fence in the process.

Silly!
Reply:Yes, I approve of the fence, at least people won't be able to run over the border freely. It will take a little effort on their part to climb over or dig under.
