Why did George Bush say of the Constitution, “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”?
He thinks he's King George not a President.
Reply:Moody Red...what gives you the idea that Bush is a Christian? Do a search of Bush saying after a news conference..."Major League ******," if you don't believe the guy curses. He thought the microphone was off.





What Chrisitian would tell the Amish that "God speaks through me." Try a search of that little story.





Now we have to live in fear that God does not tell Bush to further escalate his "War on Error" by attacking Iran.





Bush has placed himself above our Constitution by ignoring the separation of powers, outing one of our own CIA agents, condoning torture, lying about secret prisons, and violating Congressional laws based on wiretapping, and manipulating intelligence to take our nation into war, while his corporate cronies make record profits off the blood of our soldiers.





And you think this guy is a Christian? Why hasn't he done more to end abortion? Because republicans like abortion, because it draws fools like you to the polls to continue to throw votes their way.
Reply:The Constitution is a vital document to provide the framework of the government and the rights of the people.

Reply:Bush was showing deference and respect to the Constiution, in my opinion, when he said that. It's clear that he actually thinks of it and uses it as if it was TOILET paper, so that comment is about the kindest he's been to that document.

I just cannot understand why he hasn't been impeached, especially for treason and war crimes, as well as taking an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, then doesn't do it.

You could validate this much better if you were using a credible source. I have never heard him use foul language!

Reply:That's awesome that, rather than address the problem where our president has no respect for the Constitution, people would rather insult you. From their school of thought that is considered a "winning argument".





And just to make clear my answer, the President said that because he has no respect for the Constitution.





Edit: Bush has been caught on camera swearing a number of times, as well as flipping the bird. You look it up, I'm too busy.

Reply:In reality that's all it is. A piece of paper with words on it. It is a living document that can be amended as times see fit.
Reply:Because the current political atmosphere is such where he can get away with it. Its just throwing another pebble onto a mountain of rocks.
Reply:He probably did say this but while I have used this quote myself and I think it is something he is likely to say, I have to admit it is not a confirmed quote. I have checked on it and never found more then unnamed sources who do not even give a date.


Assuming he said it, he did so because advisers were telling him that the patriot act had possibly unconstitutional elements within it.


If your asking this as a rhetorical question then it is because he


1. Has little regard for the foundation of our law and the will of our founding fathers.


2. Is not aware that the document is made of parchment and not paper. (there is a difference)








Added: For those who call the Constitution a "Living Document" I challenge them to find a pulse. The purpose of the Supreme Court is to determine the constitutional validity of arguments, not to change it to fit arguments. Even Congress cannot change the Constitution on their own authority.
