Is it true that Bush called the Constitution a go--amn piece of paper?

I have heard this, but not sure if true and if it is didn't he put his hand on a bible and promise to defend it?

Is it true that Bush called the Constitution a go--amn piece of paper?
I have not seen that in any written article or report. But I have also heard a version of that.

We will have to suck it up and wait for him to get out of office to get to the truth, he has misused "Executive Privilege" and stonewalling to prevent the truth from coming out and this congress is intimidated by him and his power to declare any of us as enemy combatants.
Reply:I'm not sure he means it the way I do, but it IS a piece of paper

if no one bothers to HOLD DEAR what is in it, then it's just a piece of paper
Reply:Leftist spin. Usual dribble from the commies.
Reply:Part of the Presidential oath sates that he will defend the Constitution against all enemies foriegn and domestic.

It is unfortunate that he has become one of the most powerful enemies of that constitution.
Reply:I personally heard him say it on one occasion - and I understand he's said it on subsequent occasions, including the one that made the newspapers.
Reply:I have not heard about this, but seeing what a "Gomer" he is, I wouldn't put it past him!
Reply:that's funny...Lincoln has asserted more presidential power than Bush has...

Civil liberties suspended

During the Civil War, Lincoln appropriated powers no previous President had wielded: he used his war powers to proclaim a blockade, suspended the writ of habeas corpus, spent money without congressional authorization, and imprisoned 18,000 suspected Confederate sympathizers without trial. Nearly all of his actions, although vehemently denounced by the Copperheads, were subsequently upheld by Congress and the Courts.

the copperheads were the democrats of today...
Reply:they all have and look at our nation
Reply:The only references you will see on this are the far left blogs. Oddly enough the DNC who would have a field day with such a comment or the MSM who have not showed love for the president have been very quiet about it. So I put this in the internet rumor category and never happened.
Reply:No, that's a myth perpetuated by the liberal media.
Reply:Yes he did. The neo-cons above who are denying it likely don't watch the news anyway, as they still support Bush and anyone who watches the news wouldn't be blinded like that.
Reply:dunno, but you cannot put this past him what with he thinking about being omnipotent.

About the oath on the bible... lies, lies and lies.
Reply:Yes

Reply:No. It would have been a scandal to the extreme if there were real proof of it. He gets crap for picking his nose, yet most people wouldn't have heard about this? Not likely.
Reply:As far as I'm concerned The U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights are far more sacred and powerful than The Bible.

And, to the poster above who agrees that it IS a Goddmned "piece of paper," I can't even clearly articulate how sickening your excuse for an opinion is, no matter whether it's a joke or not.
Reply:Come on it's a fact:

The constitution is on a goddamn piece of paper.

Of course the on part is moot.

It's in books, on the web - etc.. etc...

Let the judges decide - bush isn't the head of the judiciary - and I bet he's up for gaurding that peice of paper.

DHS and all the others too...

It is a piece of paper.

I can just picture him with it shuved up hes bump in a plastic wrap. No one would ever think to look there.

Or maybe he can pass it off to the next person in office so they can whipe their mouth once they are elected (that was in part a joke)

If it was blessed would it deterioate and require tons of money to be preserved?

ask bush see what he says? you can write the president - and in 28838383 you may get a reply.
Reply:if he really said it.. then he should step down from being president.
Reply:No. That was the Democratic platform.
